Dark Revenge: Prologue

The Devil is real. But he isn’t that little red man with horns and a tail. The Devil, too, was once an angel; God’s brightest, most favored creation. While he danced upon the highest peaks of heaven, the light streaming from his eyes would illuminate the souls of all beings. But his fall came silently, driven by the cold hand of pride and a heart thirsty for betrayal… And thus, the angel was dragged into the shadows.
The woman said: "Do you think the Devil has horns? I thought so, too. But I was wrong. He has his hair neatly combed, wearing a suit and a tie. He is gentle, polite… but his apparent purity hides the darkness within. His smile is so bright that you wouldn’t even suspect him; yet behind it lies the cunning of a serpent."

For the Devil does not hide in ugliness. He has no need for it. Why would he want to hide when he is like an invisible crack even in the purest of mirrors? He whispers into your ear in the silence of a graveyard; his poisonous smile is shadowed by the dim light seeping through broken stained glass. As he approaches you, it is not the sound of footsteps that echoes, but the suffocating rhythm of your own heart. And in that moment, all your senses intensify; even when you realize you’ve fallen into a trap, the voice of the fear within you sounds muffled and distant. The mask of beauty, the polite tongue, a smile that inspires trust… all of it is merely a snare.
Remember: life’s brightest memories hide the darkest secrets. Sometimes the Devil whispers, sometimes he laughs. But he is always right by your side. And the brightest light births the longest shadow.
